Sarasota Back Country Horsemen

Sarasota Back Country Horseman is a chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of Florida. We are dedicated to protecting and maintaining access for equestrians to our public lands. We organize volunteers at the grass roots level to assist our local governments to preserve our natural areas.
We are a chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of America which is the only national equestrian trails advocacy group in the country. BCHA maintains a 24/7 presence in our nation’s capital always looking out for the equestrian interest. Working behind the scenes, we assure that you will always have access to the trails you love to ride on your public lands.

Sarasota Back Country Horsemen members interact with state and county government to be a voice for equestrians locally. We are active in the Environmentally Sensitive Lands, Parks and Recreation and Bike/Pedestrian Trails Citizen's Advisory Committees. We support other user groups with similar mission statements like the Friends of Myakka River, Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, Bicycle Pedestrian Advocates of Sarasota, Friends of the Carlton Reserve and Friends of Sarasota County Parks. We represent equestrian interests to our county commissioners and our state representatives with issues concerning zoning, land use, park funding and smart growth.

We are a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization established to help to preserve and maintain our public lands for the benefit of all. We are devoted equestrians who love to ride and explore new trails. We assist with trail maintenance, improvement projects, clearing trails and work with state and local government for current and future projects.
